The Battle for Freedom

I’m sure many of your remember those words from Braveheart (see scene 1 below). William Wallace’s men were scared and intimidated by the British whose army and weaponry were far superior to their own. But rather than giving up, Wallace and his underarmed gang of Scots continued the fight against all odds.
We are in a similar battle today, a battle for freedom. Sure, we are not fighting with swords and shields. But I assure you we are fighting the exact same fight, with dollars.
With an ever-growing $14.3 trillion debt, we are enslaving our children. Right now each citizen’s share of the debt is $46,913.17. If changes are not made, a child born in 2050, will be born owing $279,738, an increase of 859 percent above what it is today. This is a number that will continue to grow throughout his or her lifetime.
This child will not have access to the American Dream, for it simply will not exist. America is the land of opportunity, the land where any person, regardless of circumstance, can reach his goal with enough passion and drive. This opportunity will be a thing of the past.
This child will pay exorbitant taxes all his life. Even if he manages to start a successful company amid the extremely unfriendly business environment, more than half of his earnings will be confiscated. He will spend his entire life paying into a broken system with a massive welfare state.
Will this child be free? He may not be in literal bondage. His life may not be at risk. But he will be shackled by the burden of debt. He will be detained by the lagging economy this debt has created. In short, he will be anything but free.
The same message that William Wallace gave to the Scottish nobility who were satisfied with remaining in bondage is the same message that we need to give to the Democrats in Congress who are unwilling to make the hard choices when it comes to cutting spending: “There’s a difference between us. You think the people of this country exist to provide you with position. I think your position exists to provide those people with freedom. And I go to make sure they have it.”
You see, William Wallace was right. We elect our representatives to serve. Feeling a sense of entitlement, they lose all understanding of why they are there in the first place: to fight for our freedom. We must demand they stop spending and start serving. We must demand this in the name of freedom.
William Wallace was sentenced to public torture and beheading. Before his torture began, he looked down and into the eyes of a child. He knew that if he did not submit to the tortuous path before him, the children of Scottland would never have freedom. Half hanged, racked, castrated, and disemboweled, his torturer said to him, “It can all end now, just cry out mercy.” The crowd shouted mercy since they couldn’t even bear to watch what he was feeling. But in that loud, courageous, booming voice William Wallace did not say mercy; instead, he cried, “FREEDOM!”
This is how much he believed in freedom (See scene 2 below). How much do you believe? No one is asking you to give your life. What we are asking from you is to vote for people who are willing to fight for freedom. Are you willing to go this far? William Wallace gave far more. I hope you will make even the smallest of sacrifices for that child whose future freedom depends on it.
SCENE 2
SCENE 1

Your country is being torn apart by a Kenyan anchor-baby, is prostrating itself to islame on every level (see Ft Hood Massacre, Dearbornistan Michigan, islameic curricula in public schools, Victory Mosque at Ground Zero etc etc), being deliberately invaded by TENS OF MILLIONS of Mexicans with the shameless connivance of the Mexican government and is in complete debt bondage to China yet you are still fighting the war of independence with England with clips from a lying Hollywood movie? You perfect idiotic bimbo. "The End Of America" according to Mark Steyn? Good riddance, you dim-witted people are unworthy of your ancestors.
"Right now each citizen’s share of the debt is $46,913.17. If changes are not made, a child born in 2050, will be born owing $279,738, an increase of 859 percent above what it is today."
That's staggering. How can so many members of Congress just ignore the situation and be so willing to pile on more and more debt? Totally irresponsible. I was amazed at the recent video of Nancy Pelosi (aka The Dragon Lady) being heckled at a town hall meeting because of cuts in debt deal. Those cuts were paltry! But that's what happens when you get people hooked on government programs and then someday have to take the goodies away. The extreme example is Greece. We may see the same kind of violence in the streets here if and when REAL cuts are made.
Excellent show last night, Kayleigh! Greg's intro: "She has more curves than a Wiffle Ball World Series…" Hah! And I had a picture in my mind of 6 year old Kayleigh sitting at her desk at school with her Ronald Reagan folder. You must have been teased mercilessly for that. I know I caught hell for my Donna Shalala pencil sharpener!
For some reason, your interview on The Activity Pit isn't up now. Hopefully they'll get that fixed today.
I'm getting the feeling that there's a growing sense of sobriety in the country. Whether or not people agree on whose fault it is, they are starting to see that there is no way we can continue down the path we're headed, particularly the speed at which we're traveling. More and more people are waking up from the coma of their comfortable existence. Politically, citizens have become increasingly more engaged. I think it's our duty on the conservative end of the spectrum to not only boldly and respectfully lay out our position but also to admit when members of our camp made mistakes. We could never say that the cause of the debt crisis rests wholly at the doorstep of those on the left. What we can say is that the majority of the ideas coming from the left at this point are not moving us in the right direction. It's going to take some massaging of the American public to help everyone realize that VERY tough decisions have to be made. In fact, I think the next president of our country, assuming President Obama isn't reelected, will probably have their named smeared more than any president in recent history. Why? Because they will have run on a platform of massive overhaul and reform. That will ruffle everyone's feathers and those who don't want to admit the severity of things will most likely be the first to kick and scream.
I'm very optimistic of our future. The next year and half will undoubtedly continue to prove the who is on the right and wrong side of this issue simply by the fruits of their decisions. And yes, we are fighting for freedom. We're fighting for the ability to look toward the future with confidence and promise rather than looking to the past in nostalgia. This is one of the periods in history where you will take an honest look at your beliefs and come to a true conclusion on why you believe them. It excites me to think of how many people we might welcome into our camp and to hopefully to have politics take a backseat to patriotism.
